Peter Routliff C.Dir., H.R.C.C
Mr. Routliff brings to the BBT team a wealth of Board experience and hands on experience within the electrical transmission and utility Industries.
His board experience began with the Electrical and Utilities Safety Association in 1998 serving as chair of the audit committee, governance committee and board chair. He then served as Board member for Hamilton Utilities Corporation and Horizon Utilities. Peter has Chaired New World Generation, a research and development company from 2001 to 2016. He has experience with an early stage development companies and well established corporations, having served on the Board of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System from 2003 to 2009 and was chair of the investment committee for over three of those years.
Peter has been trained formally through the Directors College and continued his education at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Toronto University’s Rotman School of Business.
Mr. Routliff has sat on several Advisory Boards and Committees and is presently working as the labour relations lead with the IBEW Local Union 1620 on the Newfoundland Muskrat Falls transmission line project and is an advisory board member for Infrastructure Energy, Topanga, CA and is a senior advisor to Potomac Asset Management Company.
Paula Mayor currently serves as the President and Board Director of BBT. She and her team take the lead in technology development and strategic marketing for product placement.
Paula was formally trained in the field of Medical Administration, and Project Management, however had an early career in Marketing and Business Development, with Optimum Marketing and Stanley Tools. She has focused much of her career on renewable energy and new technology development.
Paula was an employee of New World Generation (NWG) from 2002 to 2005 which is a research and development company. She later worked as an Independent Consultant for both NWG and MPR Associate Engineering, fulfilling the roles of Marketing and Business Development, with focused attention on early stage companies providing networking capabilities to capital financing and feasibility valuations of new technology.
In 2009, Paula worked as project manager on a 2.0MW wind turbine, design, development and implementation project.
Since that time, Paula has lead developments on a compressed air energy storage project, and thermal energy storage. Ms. Mayor has been the lead project developer and helped advance the technology to be utilized with waste heat streams, promoting energy conservation.
Neil is the CEO of NBF Group Inc. and brings extensive business development, management and policy experience in the electric industry to BBT.
He was most recently Vice President, Business Development and Corporate Relations at Horizon Utilities Corporation, one of Ontario’s most successful and innovative electricity distribution companies. Over his career, he has also worked in senior roles in power system planning at the Ontario Power Authority (now IESO), business development at Hydro One Networks Inc., strategic planning at Ontario Hydro, and as a consultant on electricity, water, and municipal issues.
Neil is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and received his PhD from the University of Toronto. He is the author of The Politics of Power: Ontario Hydro and its Government, 1906-95 (University of Toronto Press, 1996). In 2016, Neil was named the Canadian Electricity Association’s first ever “Individual Sustainability Leadership” award recipient.
One of the newest and welcome additions to the Blue Box family is Mr. Norm Fraser an Independent Utility Advisor.
Upon graduation on the Dean’s Honor roll with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Norm began his career in the electrical utility business. As a Utility Executive, he has extensive experience and demonstrated leadership in the utility business with Hydro Ottawa, Hydro One and Ontario Hydro.
Until December 2016 Norm served as Chief Customer Officer at Hydro Ottawa, and previously as Chief Operating Officer and VP of Operations at Hydro Ottawa overseeing a staff of 450. Prior to that he held the position of VP, Transmission Development; VP, Performance Management reporting to a Senior Vice President at Hydro One, and at Ontario Hydro, he progressed from Junior Engineer to Director level positions. Norm has a proven track record in almost all aspects of the electrical utility business – strategic planning; power system integrated resource planning (including both supply and demand), asset management, design and operations of transmission and distribution systems; customer service, benchmarking, performance and risk management; employee and public safety; as well he has successfully participated in mergers and contract negotiations.
In his different roles, Norm has made presentations in Canada, United States and the United Kingdom, at public meetings and community associations; as well as numerous interviews with print and broadcast media (including a live interview with Ted Koppel of ABC Nightline News); including interactions with three levels of government, and a wide network of contacts across North America.
Norm has had an active leadership role in many industry associations serving in the past as:
- Chair of Distribution Council of the Canadian Electricity Association
- Chair of the Board of Directors Electricity Human Resources Canada / Chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee
- Chair of the Power Delivery Committee of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies
- Member of Board of Directors of Hydro Ottawa Limited
- Member of the Ontario Smart Grid Forum
- Member of Electrical Distributors Association Smart Meter Entity Transition Board.
